LOGLINE: An out-of-work actor tries to make a name for himself by pretending to go on a hunger strike against war. When he becomes famous, it’s not what he was looking for.

STATUS: This movie is finished but unreleased because its standard of production is below my current minimum quality. I put it in the category of “Student film” since it’s the first movie of any length that I made.

PLOT SUMMARY: An out-of-work actor tries to make a name for himself by pretending to go on a hunger strike against war. When others begin to join him in his strike, and a child dies as a result, he must question his motivations for wanting fame.

MOTIVATION: I wanted to explore how hard it is to break into the movie industry, and how far some people will be willing to go to get it. The new media landscape is largely uncharted and the potential impact of social media and the idea that anyone can become famous, society doesn’t yet have a place to deal with those things.

The other concept I wanted to explore is that many people desire fame without fully understanding what it is and how it will change their lives, usually in a bad way and usually permanently.

KEY ART: As this project is in cold-storage, all key art and any trailers or versions of it are being kept “in the basement, behind a locked door market ‘beware the leopard.'”
