You know those days I’ve been counting down? Yeah… So, they were even less locked than I thought. Here’s how unlocked they are. We changed the schedule around again today. Again. I don’t mean to imply that we’re unorganized. We’re not. Things are just getting tightened.
That said, we are relying a bit on serendipity. Here’s an example.
We went up to Sutro Tower, one of the places we’ve gotten permission to film and Phill (one of the producers) and I saw a house that we kinda liked. So, we went up there again to check it out. On the way back down, we drove through a really nice section of SF, lots of mansions. We looked around and when we saw one we liked, we knocked on the door and asked if we could film there. We were invited in, shown around, and given permission to film there.
But wait, there’s more. If you order now…
Just kidding. But, there really is more. Now, I’ve got these delusions that I’m going to meet rich famous people and they’re instantly going to see the genius of ALGORITHM and want to throw in their full support.
So, we head to the only rich famous person’s house I know about in SF. Robin Williams. I ring the doorbell. Someone other than Williams answers. I said, “My name’s Jonathan Schiefer and I’m location scouting for a movie. Is that something you’d be interested in?” No. That’s what I got there. I’m sure Robin would have been cool with it, but whoever answered the door… not so much.
Then, I turned around and saw this other great mansion. So, we knocked on the door. The owner invited us in, showed us around, chatted a bit, and we got another location!
See what I mean about serendipity? So, I’m not too worried about the schedule not being locked down. It will work out. We’ll work hard and figure things out and the perfect thing will happen. At least, that’s been the case so far.
