12-08-24 Pre-Production

I finished another draft of the script. It’s getting tighter.

Two more reads and then it goes out to a friend named Miles Maker. He has produced some stuff that you’ve definitely (read: might have) heard of and he’s a great guy. He, like everyone else who is already a part of this project, are people I really look forward to creating great art with.

Sometimes this work is a slog, long days, late nights, lots of lifting and cuts and bruises. What makes the difference is both the vision and the people around me. And, I’m feeling pretty good about this crew.

I bought my first two C-Stands today. They aren’t cheap, not even close: $170 apiece. But, when I put my slider on them, I can configure it in a ton of ways and simulate a bunch of other tools like a dolly, a crane, a jib and more, all for the price of less than any one of them. So, the price stings, but it’s a great solution.

Again, next week it’s more rewrites. When the script is off to Miles, I get to continue writing character breakdowns. When those are finished, I’m posting them on my website www.spiritusvult.com, along with the people currently cast. By the time that list is done, it will include every single role from leads, to day-players, to nonspeaking but featured background actors.

I don’t know if anyone has ever done casting like this. I’m more than a little curious how it’s going to work.

I guess that’s all I’ve got for this week.
